How I used seminars to combine my passion with my career in real estate.
Today I’m going to talk about something that I had the opportunity to share on a stage in Austin with Gary Keller, Jay Papasan, and Jason Abrams in front of 10,000 people. It was how to combine your passions with your job to create a life worth living through seminars.
When I first got into real estate, I was super passionate about agriculture, and I still am, but I decided I want to build my business through this avenue. I wanted to help people make better decisions when they were buying and selling farmland. Then what did I need to do? I needed to figure out who else had these questions. Then, I created a panel of these experts, and we went across the state and did 17 sessions in four years and kept going.
“Combine your passions with your job to create a life worth living. ”
I tell you this about farms because that was my passion, but what’s yours? It could be anything from estate planning to first-time buyers to making your last move. Any type of interest you have, you can find other people in your market that are experts in it.
Once you have your seminars, you must follow up with anybody that you brought into that room and continue to offer them information that’s relevant to their interest. Over time, you’re going to build an authentic database of people that are passionate about the same thing.
One of the vehicles that we use to put our events in place is Eventbrite. This is a great tool to capture all the information you need to stay in touch with everybody because we all know in real estate the only way to really build a relationship is by following up. Over time, your business will flourish.
