Teams aren’t just for new agents. In fact, Realtors benefit from collaboration, support, and increased earning potential. Find out how you can benefit, too!

Are you thinking about joining a real estate team in New Hampshire but you’re not sure if it’s the right move? There are a lot of assumptions out there, and they can hold you back from something that might actually be a great fit for you. So, let’s bust the top five myths I hear all the time about joining a real estate team and get real about what it’s actually like to be part of one.

1. Teams are only for new agents. Sure, teams can be a great launch pad if you’re just starting out, but experienced agents join teams too, and for totally different reasons. For some, it’s about scaling their business, while for others, it’s the support with admin tasks to have more time to focus on client relationships. When your pipeline grows to the point that you can’t do it all on your own, a team can help you keep growing without sacrificing service.

2. You’ll lose independence. The fear is valid, but the reality is different. A good team—one that’s the right fit—is going to enhance your business and your brand, not take it over. You’re still self-employed and running your own show, but with systems, support, and collaboration that make everything smoother. It’s like being self-employed, just with a safety net underneath you.

“The key isn’t just joining a team, but about finding the right one for your goals, your style, and your priorities.”

3. You’ll make less money. Yes, your split on a team will probably be smaller than if you’re working solo, but here’s what I found: when you stop juggling admin work and focus on clients, you end up doing more business. So, even though the percentage is smaller, the volume is higher, and in the end, your net income can grow.

4. You won’t learn anything new. This one really depends on your mindset. If you’re done learning, then no, a team probably won’t do much for you. However, if you’re open to growth, joining a team gives you access to shared knowledge, mentorship, proven systems, and regular feedback. You need to be surrounded by people who are invested in your success.

5. All teams are the same. The truth is they’re not. Every team has its own culture, structure, and values. Some are all about collaboration, while others lean more on being independent. There are also those who focus on lead generation and those who focus on training and mentorship. The key isn’t just joining a team, but about finding the right one for your goals, your style, and your priorities.
