What does it really take to make real estate work for you? It takes a lot of effort, but I’ve picked up some lessons along my journey that I want to share. My first full year in real estate was 2024, and I closed 21 transactions totaling $8.2 million. The following year, I hit 21 again, but this time for $12.2 million. Growth is absolutely possible, and here’s how you can make it happen, too.

Surround yourself with the right people. Your environment matters. Whether it’s being part of a team, having a mentorship plan, or working with a coach, the right support system can change everything. The people you surround yourself with shape your habits, mindset, and results, so choose wisely.

Schedule and stick to your non-negotiables. Put the non-negotiable parts of your business on your calendar and actually do them. That means role play, lead generation, and negotiation time once you have deals under contract. When it’s on your schedule, don’t move it. Treating these actions as non-negotiable is what keeps your business moving forward.

Be a resource and build trust. Real estate is a sales job, but it’s more than that. People are making major financial decisions, and they need to trust you. That’s why taking the right classes and reading the books to feel confident as a resource is so important. When you’re prepared, you can guide clients effectively while still doing the sales work.

Track your numbers. It’s easy to feel like you’re doing enough, but do you really know what’s working? I track calls, conversations, follow-ups, and appointments, and then I look at the ratios, like how many calls it takes to get an appointment. If you can’t answer those questions, you don’t yet know where to improve. Your numbers show exactly what’s working and what’s not.

Consistency over perfection. You don’t need to reinvent yourself or create a shiny new brand. Just be you, show up consistently, and be authentic. The right clients will connect with you naturally, and over time, things will start to click. Small, consistent actions always beat waiting for the perfect approach.

Protect your personal life. Burnout can sneak up if you work 24/7. Make time for family, exercise, or even just sitting on the couch doing nothing. Whatever your downtime looks like, protect it. Taking care of yourself isn’t optional; it’s part of building a business that lasts.

If I could build a business like this in just two years, you can too. Surround yourself with support, stay consistent, be authentic, and make time for yourself. Then watch what happens, notice what’s working, and take action. If you need guidance, just reach out to our team at (603) 557-6661 or email training@hvizdateam.com. Let’s make 2026 your best year in real estate.
